SPECIALIST PROSTHODONTIST, DR FARID MONIBI  GDC 73724

“Dr Monibi made me feel at ease from the start. Like most people, I dread the pain and drill vibration of the dentist; however, here, I was given a numbing cream before the injection and the drill was so slight. Also having Netflix projected onto the ceiling during my treatment was an amazing help and distraction for my anxiety! The end results were just brilliant. I am a patient for life here now – I never want to go anywhere else!”

Dr. Farid Monibi is a highly skilled prosthodontist, surgeon and implantologist with over 25 years of experience. He is a recognised expert in the field of restorative dentistry and has helped countless patients restore their smiles and regain their confidence.

Specialist Prosthodontics is a specialised discipline of dentistry that focuses on restoring and replacing teeth, as well as improving the aesthetics and functionality of the mouth. Prosthodontists are highly trained and experienced professionals who specialise in creating and fitting dental prostheses, including crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants. Prosthodontists work closely with other dental specialists and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive treatment to patients who have complex dental problems. They also help patients with congenital dental anomalies, traumatic injuries, and those who have undergone cancer treatment.

A consultation with Farid is always unhurried and informative; he will explain all the options for treatment so that you can make an informed decision.

Farid will always make sure that his patients are pain free. He is a firm believer of ‘minimal intervention dentistry’ which means that he will always carry out treatment that makes the most of your natural teeth.

His three main interests are restorative dentistry, always using natural shade materials for the best appearance, dental implants and surgery, such as sinus lifts, complex tooth extractions and coronectomy.  As well as using implants to replace missing teeth for his patients, Farid also gives seminars to teach other dentists about implants.

Farid qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1997 and later spent four years completing a postgraduate course in prosthodontics at Guys. He opened the practice at 76 Harley Street with five friends and colleagues in 2007.

Implants

If you have suffered tooth loss due to decay, gum disease, trauma or old age, dental implants could be the answer to restoring your self-esteem.

Dental implants are the closest replacement to natural teeth and are barely distinguishable from your own teeth. Not only do they provide a life-like, natural teeth appearance, they are a long-term solution and provide the same functionality as your natural teeth. Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth and secure loose dentures in place.

  1. Dentures
  2. Dental implants
  3. Conventional bridges
  4. Minimal intervention bridges

The above methods all have a range of advantages and disadvantages and your dentist will explain the best option suited for your needs.

Dental implants are a predictable yet effective way of replacing teeth. Dental implants do not rely on neighbouring teeth, they’re not prone to decay and are a good long term prognosis.

As with any man made mechanical device, there are also complications that can occur with implants. It’s a misconception that implants will last forever. They do require regular maintenance in order to provide longevity of the implant.

Just like your natural teeth, they rely on good oral health and the same applies for the health and longevity of a dental implant. Dental implants are cared for just like your natural teeth. They are a fantastic way of replacing teeth but they do require regular maintenance and this should be accepted as part and parcel of having an implant restoration.

Common complications of dental implants are screw loosening, breakages of the porcelain that covers the crown, and cases of infection and inflammation around the neck of the implant which is referred to as periodontitis. Regular dental check ups are required in order to preserve your dental implant and to deter any issues from developing.

Typically the replacement of teeth with dental implants will take around 3 to 4 months but this can be prolonged if other procedures such as bone regeneration or gum regeneration are required.
